Quick and Easy Green Tips

  • Junk your junk mail. Many organizations will help you stop marketers from sending you all these offer letters and catalog.
      Here are a few options:

  • Reduce your plastics
    1. Drop the plastic bag. Use reusable shopping bags for your groceries.
    2. Replace your water bottles with a reusable water container.
  • Think about sustainable when you purchase any lasting products
  • Exchange your old books
    1. Campus bookstore buys back your old textbooks
    2. Have a lot of paperbacks? checkout Book Mooch
  • Reduce your paper consumption
    1. Photocopy or print on both sides of the page and reuse paper until both sides are used up.
    2. Reduce the number of copies of any given document.
    3. Buy recycled, chlorine-free paper and recycle office paper when you are finished with it.
    4. Reuse envelopes.
    5. Use a plain paper fax machine so you can reuse and recycle the paper.
    6. Buy one copy of the newspaper and leave it in the staff room for everyone to share over lunch and breaks.
    7. Take your old magazines to a coffee shop or a doctor's office.
  • Green your coffee
    • Take your own ceramic or china coffee cup to work or when you go to the coffee shop.
    • Buy a permanent cloth or mesh coffee filter instead of disposable paper filters.
  • Transportation
    • Carpool with a coworker, walk or ride a bike to work. It saves gas and you get some exercise.
