The event is scheduled for April 7 at the Hilton Hotel on County Line Road in Jackson. It is sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and the Mississippi Manufacturers' Association. Registration closes on March 31. The day also includes the recognition lunch for the new enHance members.

Happy soon to be spring! Warm weather is almost in the air and that means right around the corner are adventures and flip-flops! And with that comes a plethora of events that you should know about.
Tuesday, March 9th: The Starkville Young Professionals will be holding their monthly meeting at Ptolemy's Taproom in the purple building in the Cotton District tomorrow night at 5:30pm. They will be having speakers about other local volunteer events. More importantly for each member or guest that attends, their $5 donation for entrance will go to Green Starkville. If you can, attend and make a quick $5 donation while having a great time out in the community!
Wednesday March 10th. Green Starkville President Nisreen Cain will be the guest speaker at the Starkville Multi-cultural Lions club on Wednesday, March 10th at 5:45PM at Memorial Hall on the MSU Campus. Nisreen will be speaking about Green Living and focusing on energy saving and the upcoming Earth Hour Event.
The meeting is Free and open to everyone.
Wednesday March 10th. Healthy Hometown Kickoff Meeting at the Greensboro Center at 4:00PM till 6:00PM. Please mark your calendar to support this great effort.
The Healthy Hometown Committee, comprised of a broad team of leaders and citizens throughout Starkville, will officially kick-off the competition for our community. If Starkville is named one of the top four healthiest communities in the state we will win a either a $25,000 or $50,000 grant. This grant will be used to strengthen our community by becoming a healthier place for citizens to live, work and play. Refreshments and healthy snacks will be provided at the kick-off. In addition to other announcements and activities, three preliminary logos will also be unveiled for the community to weigh in on. Hope to see you there!

Saturday March 27th. Turn Off your lights for Earth Hour on Saturday March 27th at 8:30pm! Our main gathering area for this event will be at our hosting restaurant Grumpy's! We will be having a powered down evening with live unplugged music, candle light dinners, and perhaps restaurant specials only available to those who know the Earth Hour password. So mark your calendars!

Saturday April 17th. The Cotton District Arts Festival is April 17th! Green Starkville is teaming up with the festival organizers to help with Waste Management and Recycling. Expected attendance for this year's festival is 30,000-32,000 people. We need your support to make sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently, and that we present a beautiful, green city to our visitors.
Volunteer! We need your support and help to make this as successful as possible. We need volunteers for six shifts of two hours a piece. Please sign up for one shift today!
Donate! If don't have the time to volunteer and can give a little to help us with all the expense for running this operation, please make a small donation.
Business Owners, this is a great sponsorship opportunity where you can get your name out to a huge crowd of both locals and out-of-town visitors! We're providing all the recycling bins and there is a place for your business name/logo on these bins.
Note: The recycling bins will be used in other events around the community and will help us provide recycling to some of the public schools.
Thursday April 22nd is Earth Day. Environmental Collaborative Office is planning for a full week of Earth learning and fun events. Participation is open for everyone, and local organizations and businesses are encouraged to show their Earth Friendly side by hosting their own booths at the Earth Fair or by sponsoring the event. On Sunday, February 21, from 3-6 PM, there will be an auction of artwork of friends, faculty and students of the College of Architecture, Art, and Design. All proceeds from the sale of work goes to benefit Architecture for Humanity to support earthquake reconstruction in Haiti. A preview of some of the works can be seen at the Little Building Cafe

Event DetailsThe Design Revolution Road Show will be coming to the MSU campus on Friday February 19th from 11:00AM till 4:00PM."The Design Revolution Road Show is a traveling exhibition and lecture series bringing “product design that empowers” to 25 high schools and university design programs across the nation in the Spring of 2010. A Project H Design initiative, the road show will feature an Airstream trailer exhibition of 40 humanitarian design solutions that have been showcased in the book Design Revolution: 100 Products that Empower People. The programming will bring the evidence of and tools for design for social impact to the doorsteps of students, with the ultimate goal of enabling and empowering the next generation of creative problem-solvers to apply their skills to the world’s most pressing problems and improve life on a global scale."

Transportation Workshop Organized by: The MSU Transportation Working Group and The National Center for Intermodal Transportation

Call for Poster Presentations The Transportation Workshop provides an opportunity for MSU faculty, students, and staff to present their ongoing transportation-related research and identify interdisciplinary collaboration venues within the College of Engineering and other MSU colleges and centers. We encourage participation through submission of posters and accompanying abstracts. The posters should be aimed at introducing your transportation-related research to the MSU engineering and scientific community as well as promoting an exchange of ideas.
Student Poster Competition Student participation in the workshop is encouraged. Students who submit abstracts will be invited to participate in the student poster competition. Cash prizes will be given to the best three posters presented by students, with selection of winners conducted by a panel of judges. Students participants should be prepared to give a 5 minute presentation to the panel regarding their poster and answer related questions. Details about the competition will follow.
Procedure for Submitting Abstracts and Posters Interested participants are encouraged to submit a one-page single-spaced abstract (200 words) about the poster presentation. The abstract should include: poster title, keywords, and name, title, department of all authors. The abstracts will be synthesized and organized into a book of abstracts, which will be made available to all the participants. Please bring your easel to display posters at the venue.
Please submit your abstracts to sde47@ise.msstate.edu by February 15, 2010. Abstracts will be reviewed and authors will be notified regarding acceptance by March 5, 2010.

Please join us for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: The Greater Starkville Development Partnership will hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Starkville Recycling in honor of the City of Starkville’s free curbside recycling program and in celebration of the Grand Re-Opening of Starkville Recycling, located at 211 C.C. Clark Road. These events will occur during National Recycling Week. Starkville became the first city in Mississippi to introduce a free curbside recycling program on October 1, 2009. Already, approximately 1,000 households have signed up to participate in the city-wide recycling effort. Starkville Recycling will offer a tour of their facility, and residents may use this opportunity to sign up for the city’s free curbside recycling program and pick up free recycling bags. Refreshments will be served. Please join us for this celebration and ribbon cutting on Nov. 18.
